This treatise is intended primarily for advanced students and research workers in chemical oceanography, and it gives a comprehensive, authoritative and up-to-date account of the subject in its widest sense. It thus embraces not only sea-water chemistry as such, but also gives consideration to the interaction of sea water with marine sediments and to the chemical factors controlling marine productivity. Each chapter has been contributed by a speciaalist athtor and the work has been so desined to be useful to workers in related fields such as marine biology and geology. Volume 1 deals with sea water, its chemistry, and the processes controlling its composition, and with the interaction betwwen marine organisms and the nutrient elements and compounds. Volume 2 contains topics of radio-chemical, analitical and geochemical interest.
