This is a book of journalistic articles, simplified and arranged for students desiring to improve their reading of English. The aim is to familiarize the student with reading American magazies and newspapers, and to help him progress step by step toward reading them fluently. The basic vocabulary consists of 1418 words, with occasional, less common words defined in the margin. Exercises following the articles stress vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. Our intention is to encourage the student to know more, not just about the English language but about interesing or unusual aspects of life tn the United States and Canada.
