This book was meant to be the first part of two. The second never got written because the author went to war in WWII and was so shaken by his experience that he never finished the second part. That said, if youre looking for an action packed seafaring tale, this is not it. It is, however, a very good character study of the men on a U.S. destroyer just prior to the nations entry into WWI. Thats right, WWI, not WWII. Its quite interesting.
